The Holiday Season and Connecting with others

Holiday seasons are a time to reflect on the year that has passed and to spend time with loved ones. It starts as early as Thanksgiving and goes through New Year’s Day. It should be a time to slow down, relax, and enjoy the company of those most important to us. The holidays are perfect for connecting with others, whether a big family gathering or a small get-together with friends.

We must surround ourselves with people who uplift and make us happy. The holiday season Is often stressful for many people, with the pressure to find the perfect gifts and host the perfect gatherings. But when we spend time with those who bring us joy, we can let go of our worries and truly enjoy the season.

So, make time for the people who matter most this holiday season. Contact with family and friends to plan get-togethers or catch up over the phone. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the season to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa or walk in the snow with someone you love.

We need to remember the holidays are about more than just presents and decorations. They’re about connecting with others and cherishing the relationships that bring us happiness throughout the year.

How To Support Veterans In The Job Market

Veterans sometimes get a lot of bad press because of the actions of a few. Yet, you will find the majority of vets willing to do great work and go over and above for a good employer. Giving a Vet a break is akin to giving your company a better fighting chance in the job market.

The best thing you can do is hire a Vet. When they come to work, make them feel they are a part of your team. Give them challenges they can work on, and you will have a win-win situation.

Isn’t that what we are all looking for in business and life? A chance to win.

Technology has Changed War And Business

No one can deny that the cyber world is changing. In business, we now deal with thinking machines that do their best even though sometimes that runs contrary to our needs or even what we try to do or say. We need trained, intelligent employees who know how to work with the new technologies of today.

One place where you can find the best computer programmers, users, and developers is by looking at those who are leaving the military. The military is often where personnel in these career fields get training, sometimes even before their abilities are on the civilian market.

The people who learn the new computer programs in the military are the ones who love what they do and are looking to get into those work areas as they leave the service. If you want to keep up with the new technologies that will put your business at the forefront of commerce, you should be looking for vets leaving the services.

Serving In The Military Can Change A Person’s Life

When you hire a veteran, you are employing someone who has the drive to succeed, a good sense of direction, and a strong work ethic. When brought into a new team and given the opportunity, they will usually prevail.

Look at your veterans as workers with the added leadership training they have picked up by having to complete missions and meet goals, sometimes in hard-to-believe situations. They trained to take on demanding tasks and succeed.

When You want the best, Hire a Vet.

Reflecting on the Sacrifices Made by Those Who Have Served Us

Many who have served in the armed forces have given the ultimate sacrifice. Even more, they carry physical and mental scars that are hard to overcome. Their sacrifices are immeasurable and cannot be fully appreciated by those who have not served in the military.

Think about the fact Veterans give up their time, comfort, and often their safety to protect the freedoms that we enjoy as citizens.

Many veterans have experienced physical or emotional trauma during their service, and it is important to support them in their healing process. Finding ways to help them readjust to life when returning home is a great help.

Leaving the service and returning to your home is very hard for some vets. Any help you give could be a godsend. It is crucial to remember that the sacrifices of veterans extend beyond their time in the military, as they often face challenges when reintegrating into civilian life.

We should remember veterans more than just one day or weekend a year. They often carry their scars, whether seen or not, daily. It would be good to help them when and where we can.

Honoring Those Who Have Served

At the end of this week, 11 November 2023, we honor those who have served to keep us free. Many have given of themselves so our families and theirs have a safe place to live.

I, too, am a veteran who gladly served for years. I’ve noticed that people often wonder how to connect with or show gratitude for those who have given so much to protect them and the country. I offer three ideas to help Anyone looking to connect with veterans.

The first way to connect with Those who have served might be to attend a Veterans Day parade or ceremony in your community to show your support and appreciation for veterans. As you notice veterans, thank them for their service. They feel good to hear it, and you will feel good for saying it.

If you have the time and inclination, volunteer at a local VA hospital or VA clinic to help veterans needing medical care or assistance. A few hours a week would make a significant difference in the lives of veterans still carrying the scars of combat.

Offer to attend a job fair or career event designed for veterans to help them transition back to civilian life. Helping these Vets find a new job is a great way to bring them back into their home community.

Helping those who have helped keep us all safe is a wonderful way to show a thank you.

Time for a change in attitude  and thinking

I have taught for many decades. I have taught CPR and First Aid. I have taught Boy Scouts how to camp and young military people how to fix satellite tracking systems. I taught people how to build computers and how to organize the best production.

I taught people how to work safely and management how to save $250,000 while supplying better training.

I taught people how to find and win jobs during the Great Recession.

After watching the disturbing unrest and problems we now face, I am retooling to not only teach the how of things. I will also teach why we do what needs to happen and help people find better outcomes.

We need, as people, to put aside grievances and strife and start to work together for a brighter tomorrow.

Building the Blogs, You Want

I have written blogs for almost nine years now. I can tell you that a blog with correct facts is only good if the person reading it needs the information.

I have strived to be up-to-date and on the money with my blogs. I do appreciate readers asking for more information and various topics. The more I know about your wishes and needs, the better I can write.

I want to thank all my readers for their participation. It gives me new levels to strive for and, hopefully, a better information stream for you.

Happy November

I love November. It is a month of paying homage to those who went before us to establish great ideas for new countries on new continents, protect us from the dangers of war, and teach us to be thankful.

It starts on day one, All Souls Day. It is the day in many areas of the world when people honor their ancestors and visit the graves of those who have passed. Graves get cleaned, and sometimes a meal is shared.

Just over a week into November, we honor the veterans and military men and women who worked hard to keep us safe and all those who have sacrificed to protect us all. We are secure and free today because of the valiant efforts they made, especially in the war to end all wars, which ended on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the year at eleven a.m.

We remember the indigenous peoples who shared with our Pilgrims the first Thanksgiving. Without their help, who knows if we would have made a lasting country here or not? We do have a lot to be thankful for.

The next day is Black Friday. It was named as such because it was traditionally the day of the year when storekeepers’ ledgers went from red to black. Everyone who works in business has a chance to succeed.

Now, we have Cyber Monday, where technology prevails.

November is a hectic month for remembrance, thankfulness, and preparing for an even bigger month in December. Things are always getting better.

Trick or Treat

I love it when the 31st of October comes around. For me, trick or treating is a beloved Halloween tradition that brings joy to children and adults. While the focus is usually on the treats, this spooky tradition has a comedic side. From creative costumes to silly pranks, trick or treating is full of laughs.

One of the most entertaining aspects of trick or treating is seeing all of the creative and hilarious costumes. Whether it’s a group of friends dressed as the cast of a popular TV show or a child dressed like their favorite cartoon character, the costumes can be impressive and humorous. Some people even dress up their pets, resulting in some adorable and chuckle-worthy moments.

The occasional pranks get played on friends or neighbors. It must be harmless and fun, yet they can excite the night. Someone might jump out from behind a bush to scare their friends or replace the candy in a bowl with plastic bugs or other spooky things.

Trick or treating is a fun and lighthearted way to enjoy Halloween. So, whether you dress up in costume or play a harmless prank, don’t forget to embrace this beloved holiday tradition.

It Is a New Quarter

October starts the last Quarter of the year. This Quarter is also the most exciting Quarter of the year. It is because more people get hired in the last Quarter of the year. After all, there are more sales thanks to the end-of-year rush for most families and the end-of-year business rush for all the businesses buying new equipment to count on this year’s taxes.

Jobs are much more plentiful this time of year, which is excellent because you certainly want to avoid standing outside in cold weather if you live in cooler climates. Start looking for a job now and know that as we get closer to November and December, jobs will be even more plentiful.

If you need to get a resume ready, even if you haven’t worked lately, make one now. If you need help with work clothes and cannot afford them, now’s the Time to go and talk to Charities about them.

Be sure to let those who help people get jobs know that you are trying to get one. Right now, I am seeing help-wanted signs everywhere.

If you have a job and know someone is looking for work, please print a copy of this and share it with them.  Thanks
